Pillow Talk

I have often woken up at night to adjust my pillow. I thump it, pummel it a few times, turn it around, crash my head down – and lie there, all sleep now gone! I blame the pillow for depriving me of my forty winks and think of the things I need to do the next day and fret about how I am going to do my job as a data cleansing services agent while my own head is not clear, damn my pillow! Naturally, these thoughts ensure that I lose whatever little sleep remained and I am left with no choice but pray that mercy prevails and I somehow manage to doze off for what little time I can.

Fact is, your pillow has a shelf life and you need to replace it after some time. Depending on the filling, your pillow has a shelf life. Goose down pillows last the longest at about 5 to 8 years, while the synthetic ones tend to last between 1 to 3 years.

The pillow you need also depends on the kind of sleep posture you adapt. There are different pillows for the different sleep positions. If you are a back sleeper, you need to go in for a medium density pillow which provides support to your neck. Side sleepers need a firm pillow that will fill the gap between the head and the bed. They need to keep the head and spine in a horizontal line. Stomach sleepers are the luckiest! They just need a thin, soft pillow that will cushion the head at a natural angle without any strain.

So whatever, your style, keep the above in mind next time you are out pillow shopping. You will sleep like a baby!
